Modern style in the interior

There are several classic styles of interior decoration. Among them, the most universal is considered to be the Modern. This conclusion can be made based on its practicality and style focus on the functionality of each element of the interior. Any room, regardless of the layout and size can be decorated in modern style. The cost of furniture and materials used for interior design is not particularly important. Any small thing, such as decorative candlesticks, can play a more important role in decorating a room than large statues and expensive paintings. This is the value of Modernity.

Contrary to popular belief, interior design in the Spruce style does not create special difficulties. Modern decoration materials can significantly expand the possibilities for the embodiment of creative ideas. The main thing in this – do not go away from the basic principles of style – smooth lines and natural motifs.

History of style

Modernity in the interior as a style arose in Europe in the late 19th century, at a time when complete confusion began in the styles of design. Its emergence was facilitated by the development of new technologies that led to the transition to mass production. By the beginning of the 20th century, modernity had spread to the whole world.

As a style of architecture, painting and interior, the Modern began to fade in the second decade of the last century. The reason for this was the technically complex and expensive manufacturing of interior items. Products that were produced in bulk, strongly shook before the firm position of style. An important factor influencing the decline of style was the First World War.

Interesting is the fact that at the very beginning of the appearance of the style, it was considered a sign of bad taste and the top of bad taste. The interiors of their houses in the Modern style were decorated by units, mostly bright personalities who wanted to stand out from the general crowd.

Residents of different countries call this direction in different ways. In the USA it is Tiffany, in honor of the famous designer, Jugentstil – the name of Modern in Germany, the Austrians call it Secession, Modern style – in England and Fir style – in Switzerland. But the most popular second name is Modern – Art Nouveau, as it was called in France.

Distinctive features of Modern

Modern in the interior as a style has always been opposed to Classics as an alternative to classic straight lines that never went out of style. Unlike the classical style, in which the clear forms prevail, Art Nouveau is, first of all, meandering lines, with which the transitions from one interior to another are almost imperceptible.

Modern – it’s semi-circular rooms, smooth transitions in the corners, plastic furniture.

In the interior, decorated in this style, the technique, for example, an acoustic system or a home theater, fits perfectly. In this sense, the Fir-tree style strongly echoes with another widespread Hi-Tech style in our time. But the technique usually goes to the foreground in interior design, and with the help of Modern, modern details should fit in the interior more harmoniously.

Art Nouveau is distinguished by a variety of colors for interior design. But most often red, green, gray and brown tones are used. Among them, the favorite ones can be called the tea rose color, smoky, ash-pink and slightly muffled red. Very often designers like to make small impregnations of several bright colors, for example a lilac chair against a beige wall or to place scarlet pillows on a gray sofa.

One of the inherent moments of Art Nouveau are plant motifs. This can be a wallpaper with a picture of plant stems or flowers. Know that even if the entire room is decorated usually and ordinary, the presence in it of an ordinary chair in the form of a half-blown bud gives reason to assert that this is already Modern. Often used wallpaper and upholstery furniture with images of butterflies, beetles, birds or leaves.

Particular attention in the interior design in the Spruce style is given to the decor. Usually the interior uses stucco molding on the ceiling, in modern conditions, stucco is replaced by gypsum plasterboard, plastic or polymeric structures. Interior doors are decorated with stained-glass windows, the interior has a lot of textiles, tiles, china and bronze figurines. All this serves as a real decoration of the room in the Modernist style.

The style of Art Nouveau differs from others and the design of furniture. Cabinets, kitchen sets and other pieces of furniture have rounded shapes, facades and corners, and stand on unusually curved legs. The furniture is monochrome, its combinations are possible, for example, black furniture and white glass. Sofas and armchairs are usually large, made volumetric and with magnificent shapes. Furniture upholstery is also given great attention, it should be in harmony with the color and pattern of curtains and wallpaper.

A distinctive feature of the style is a large amount of free space. In this respect, Spruce style is similar to minimalism. The main goal of the designer, working in the style of Modern, has always been the most convenient arrangement of furniture in the interior, allowing to provide a maximum of free space.

The main thing in Modernity is beauty. Beauty in the interior, which will please the eye and provide comfort. Interior in the style of Art Nouveau will never be boring and banal.
